Celia M. Hastings Local History Room Maps

The Patchogue-Medford Library map collection presented here derives from a variety of sources, mostly known, a few speculative. They occur in a variety of formats. But each map, when taken in the context of others can often help limit or help pin down changes in the landscape. They are what we have managed to eclectically acquire over many years, and we welcome additions to the collection.

In addition to this collection, maps and street views may be found in the L.I.-Patchogue Vertical Files, in the LI-REF Collection, and in the guise of aerial photos. Some of the directories of Patchogue can identify residences and businesses, as of a given date, as can the Patchogue atlases contained within Sanborn Digital Maps of New York State (an online service to which the Library subscribes, available for patrons to search, at the Library). Historic photos and postcards can also supplement maps, as they show sections of streets, most prominently Main St. and northern S. Ocean Avenue.
