Did M.P. [Military Police] duty at Solvay Station
July 1st 1917. Promoted to Corporal
and transferred to Co. D. -- 38th U.S.
Infantry July 1917.

Aug 16th 1917 transferred to Mg Co [Machine Gun Company]
16th Infantry [Regiment] and made Serg[ean]'t Aug
25th 1917.

Sailed for France Nov 1917 and
transferred -- to Co. D. -- 16th Infantry

Entered trenches, etc --------------
----- and participated in the following

In all 49 battles. --

Nov 11, 1918 was in Buzancy Woods again
and Nov 12 was at Cunel, from there started
on the long hike for Coblenz Bridgehead
and was in the following places[:]
Esnes, Eix, Cunel, Mercy-le-Haute,
Esch, Itzig, Mensdorf, Enevenmacher,
Pallien, Fohren, Wittlich, Hasbourn,
Strotsbusch, Cochem, Lehnen, Coblenz,
Ransbach, Dembach, and Montabaur.

---- Returned to the U.S.A. ---- on the
U.S. Transport Freedom, went to Camp
Merritt, N.J.

Was in the 1st Division Parade in
N.Y. City and Washington D.C. From there
went to Camp Meade, Md. then to
Camp Taylor, Ky and did duty at
Charlestown, W. Va. at the coal strike,
then back to Camp Taylor."
