Dr. Gordon,

In regards to the ninth
question "Honors Received" I am
not sure what is eluded. My
promotions might come under
that head. I was made Private
First Class about two days before
being made Corporal which
was July 5th 1918.

The only other point of
interest is a G.S.W.* left cheek
received Sept. 22nd at Mon Plaisir.
Respectfully yours,
E. DeW. Newton

NOTES
Sheet bears the letterhead, "Patchogue, L.I., N.Y."

*"G.S.W." above was WWI military slang shorthand for "gun shot wound".
