I enlisted in the Navy on June 14th 1917 and Served on board the U.S.S. Huron, an Army transport, and made on trip to 'St. Nazaire,' France carrying troops. I was then transferred to the U.S.S. Lake Bridge,..." Page 2: "...a Supply Ship, where I Served a Short time when I was transferred to the U.S.S. Rochester, a Cruiser doing convoy duty and made about nine trips over doing convoy duty and only had the Experience of meeting a German Submarine once and that was at at night while we were off the coast of Ireland. We were attacked by two of them. After The Armistice was signed we came back to Boston Navy Yard where I was discharged on Dec. 23rd, 1918. This is about all I can tell you of my service now.
