Description: The reverse reads:
"This is a fine study of poise and pride as evidenced in Mrs. Emma King, one of the Eastville Band of the Montauks. The family names among this band were Cuffee, Crippen, Ashman, Comsa, Halsey and King. They maintained a tribal organization independent of the Freetown Band of East Hampton who recognized Wyandank Pharoah as king of the tribe.
Emma King and her band recognized James E. Waters (Wild Pigeon) of Little Neck as Sachem of the tribe. Waters was of Matinecock, Montauk and Shinnecock blood.
See Photo 21 for a glimpse of Emma Dept King as an old woman."
