"The Butler family was the largest of Montauk families of recent times and they were among the most colorful personages. All of the girls had hair long enough so that they could sit upon it. And two of the four brothers William and Charles wore their hair shoulder length throughout life.
The nine brothers and sisters of this well known Montauk family died from Dropsy. Robert, his sister Madelyn and their niece Adele and her children are the sole remaining Montauks of this family.
Carey who looks very elegant in this photo was one of the youngest daughter. In Set 1 Photo 11 another sister Mary is pictured. In Photo 21 Set 1, John Joe is shown. In Set 2 Photo 2, George is shown. In Set 1, Photo 7 Charles is shown and Photo 6 in this Set shows Ethel and Susan together."
