Description: The reverse reads:
"The Montauks of both bands of ten resided far away from the old habitats of the tribe. Wherever they removed to they were still proud enough of their Indian heritage. Whenever the occasion demanded they appeared in costumes in parades, fairs and pageants.
In Photo 4, Emma Hall appears in a closeup with her hair piled up on her head in the style of the early 1900's. In Photo 15 she appears with her mother with her hair in braids but in this photo in her tribal costume her hair is worn loose and it reaches to her waist.
She had this photo taken and sent to her brother, Walter Halsey, one of the tribal councillors of the Eastville Band as a birthday gift. On the back of the photo the following message is writte.
"From your sister, E.P. Hall, April 1906 to her brother on his birthday, April 15, 1906.""
