Description: The reverse reads:
"This is the last photo taken of Reverend Aaron Cuffee shortly before he died in 1960. His father was the well known Nathan J. Cuffee, the Montauk, who with Lydia Jocelyn, wrote the interesting novel, "Lords of the Soil." His father appears in Photo 10 in this series one can turn back the years and see how Aaron Cuffee appeared as a boy in Photo 9.
Standing next to Reverend Cuffee is Courtland Cuffee who is of both Montauk and Shinnecock heritage. He is the son of the late Ida Beaman Cuffee and Eugene Cuffee. Eugene Cuffee was one of the Shinnecocks who unsuccessfully tried to oust Negroes from the Shinnecock reservation in 1936 and who tried vainly to discourage inter-marriage between the two races."
