Description: The caption reads:
"These four young men photographed on the Reservation in 1943 all showed outstanding Indian features and agreed to pose for this photo. When another young man who was less Indian looking wanted to get into the photo the reaction of the four was the same and they told him to stay out of the photo. It was said amusingly but firmly and the youth in question did not push the issue.
The young man in the back is Thomas Williams and his brother Harry is on the left, both of their parents were Shinnecocks. The man in the center is James Lorin Kellis, whose parents were both Shinnecocks. Man on the right is George "Pud" Davis, whose parents were both Shinnecocks.
Today (April 25, 1969), because there has been a tendency for some of the Shinnecocks to marry each other during the last 20 years, there are still many Indian looking children on the Reservation."
