Description: The caption reads:
"Mrs. Ada Bunn was a Shinnecock Indian who lived in her cozy home on the reservation near beautiful Shinnecock Bay. She was an attractive lady with a warm smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Her home was visited by many people including the late Dr. Frank G. Speck, Professor of Anthropology of the University of Pennsylvania whom I took to meet her in 1944.
Two of her closest friends were Miss Ernestine Walker and sister, and Mrs. Edna Eleazar (Photo 39). I used to enjoy conversations with these illustrious Indian ladies all of whom were excellent specimens of the typical Shinnecock Indian. To sit in Ada Bunn's home which was surrounded by honeysuckle and discuss Indian topics over a hot cup of tea and fresh biscuits was a nostalgic experience. Her brother Vincent was also an interesting personality. Ada Bunn's mother Fanny appears in Photo 41.
Two of Ada Bunn's granddaughters Bernice and Shirley still live on the Reservation and are both married to Elmer and Charles Smith, also members of the Shinnecock tribe.
This photo was taken on July 7, 1940 with a 1.00 Brownie Camera."
