"Patchogue, the Metropolis of the South Shore, the 100% village of Long Island, has a wide reputation for unusual attractions and outstanding advantages. Patchogue has all the improvements of all the modern city as to streets, gas and electric service, well equipped and efficient fire and police protection, and an abundant supply of pure water from artesian wells.
Patchogue's industries include large lace factory, extensive lumber and wood working mills, oystering, clothing factories, tape mill, boat building, etc. A great many flower nurseries and poultry business are established here.
Patchogue has four banks, three commmerical banks and one savings bank, which have deposits of over $15,000,000. The Union Savings Bank has assets in excess of $7,500,000 and a market value surplus of over $1,000,000. Included in these four banks is The Peoples National Bank, Member Federal Reserve System.
Patchogue has four schools and the school system is of the highest order and excellence, and its fine buildings compare with the best on Long Island. The new half million dollar high school is a model in every way, the River Avenue Grade School costing $200,000, the Bay Avenue School costing $150,000. There is also one Parochial school. A handsome Public Library has 7,000 volumes.
Patchogue's fraternal, social, political, religious and sporting organizations are many, active and full represented. Together with fine theatres, shore resorts, boating, bathing and fishing add much to the joy of living.
Patchogue has a number of excellent hotels with modern appointments and aggregating 1,300 guest rooms.
